In truth these words are probably one of the biggest fabrications that has been used to brainwash us. Financial security is not a real thing. Security cannot come from or be based on financial things. Money is energy and therefore has an impetus to flow, transform and change. If we are looking to money (or any external thing) for security, we will always be left wanting.
The fact is that security is the result of an orientation to life and the world. Security comes from an understanding of self and our relationship to the Divine. When we understand that Spirit is within us and in our midst, there is a feeling of protection and care that can be a true source of security.
The word secure comes from two small Latin words: se meaning “without” and cure meaning “care”—being without care, freedom from anxiety
Eric Butterworth, Spiritual Economics
To be without care is an internal state of mind and a choice. It has absolutely nothing to do with what we have, it reflects who we are. Our sense of security provides clear and direct insight into our understanding of the Divine. Do we believe that God wants us to struggle? Or do we believe that God provides all we need with ease and grace? Do we believe that God helps those who help themselves? Or do we believe that God wants us to passively wait for thing to happen to us? Do we believe that people with the external trappings of money and assets are those who are truly blessed by God? Or do we believe there is more to living the blessed life?
Culturally we see some very confusing messages about security. We have been told that if we have enough money and things that we will finally obtain a sense of security. As individuals, the financial services industry has encouraged us to believe that we must be dependent on "professionals" to make sound financial decisions. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact it is critical for each of us as an individual to take responsibility for the wise use of our financial assets. In order to experience a sense of security about our financial condition, each individual must embrace their fiscal responsibility with knowledge and joy rather than with fear and trepidation.
When we begin from a space of being secure, our finances, in fact, all aspects of our lives are in order. That does not mean that money comes easily, or can be used wastefully, but that we have our daily bread. From that center, we attract all of the resources we need for the divine work we are called to do.
